2017-18 OUA Schedule Released

The full slate of 2017-18 OUA schedules have been released and it promises to be an exciting season for your Voyageurs.

The women’s and men’s soccer teams open things up on August 26th when they head to Ryerson to take on the Rams.  Their home opener is a couple of weeks later when they host the rival Nipissing Lakers on September 9th at 12pm & 2:15pm.  These games also mark the beginning of the defence of the Riley Gallo Cup and the 705 Challenge Cup for the Voyageurs, who won the newly minted trophy in its inauguration last season.

As one season winds to a close, another season ramps up.  The final regular season soccer games kick off on October 21st and 22nd as the women and men welcome UOIT and Trent to the Nickel City.  This weekend also marks the home openers for both the men’s and women’s hockey teams.

The men’s hockey team begin their season one week earlier in Kingston when they visit Queen’s and RMC.  They then return to the friendly confines of Countryside Arena on October 20th and 21st when they host Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier, respectively, with puck drop scheduled for 7:35pm on both nights.

The women’s hockey team kick things off with a three game home stand, beginning with visits from Western and Windsor.  The Mustangs visit Countryside Arena on October 21st for a 3:50pm puck drop while the Lancers come in on the 22nd with puck drop scheduled for 1:50pm.

The women’s and men’s basketball teams get things started a couple of weeks later when they host Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier on November 3rd and 4th with tip-off scheduled for 6pm (women) and 8pm (men) each night.  All four basketball and hockey teams will play right until December 2nd when they will break for the exam period.

The second half of the season kicks off the first weekend of January as the women’s and men’s basketball teams host York and Queen’s on the 5th and 6th at 6pm & 8pm both nights.  Men’s hockey have a trip to North Bay that weekend while women’s hockey host Queen’s and UOIT on the 6th at 3:50pm and 7th at 1:50pm.

The 705 Challenge Cup, which spans 14 games this season, promises to come to an exciting conclusion in early February as the Voyageurs and Nipissing Lakers play seven games over four sports in a seven day span.  The women’s hockey teams begin the final stretch of games on January 27th with a visit to the Lakers before women’s and men’s basketball and the men’s hockey teams face-off in a series of home-and-home battles culminating with basketball games at Laurentian on afternoon of February 3rd and a men’s hockey game in North Bay that evening.
