Matt Schouten, Men's Swimming
Laurentian Athletics is proud to announce that Voyageurs swimmer, Matt Schouten (Stouffville, ON), has been named the Perkins Male Athlete of the Week.
Schouten, a 4th year Mining Engineering student, was the strongest Voyageur in the pool over the weekend at the U SPORTS Championships in Toronto, qualifying for the finals each time he hit the water. Schouten’s meet was highlighted by 6th place finish in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 22.65 seconds. He followed that up with a 17th place in 50 Backstroke, a 20th place in the 50 Butterfly and a 21st place in the 100 Freestyle.
The U SPORTS Championships officially closes the season for Schouten and the Voyageurs swim team.
