MBB | Voyageurs Fall to Lakers

Despite a valiant effort, the Voyageurs Men's Basketball team succumbed to the season sweep against their rivals from North Bay. It was the Lakers who outscored the Vee's on the night, taking the contest 82-78.

Nipissing's tenacity on the boards undid any offensive effort by Laurentian in the game, with the Lakers winning the rebound battle 40-25. Combined with the Laker's strong passing, evidenced by their 22 assists, the Vee's were unable to avenge their home loss to the Lakers earlier this season.
Kadre Gray was the high scorer in the game with 29 points, while Marcus Lewis led Nipissing with his 21 points off the bench.

The loss leaves Laurentian at 8-10 on the season and, with one game remaining, guarantees them win percentage under .500. In most years that would mean missing out on the playoffs but thanks to the OUA's RPI playoff system, the Vee's still find themselves in a playoff spot. In fact, the likelihood of that playoff game being at the Ben Avery Gym is extremely high.
The Voyageurs wrap up the regular season next Friday with a road matchup against the Algoma Thunderbirds. The action gets underway in Sault Ste. Marie at 8PM.
