MBB | Gray Named OUA Rookie of the Year

Laurentian Voyageurs’ guard, Kadre Gray, has been named the OUA Rookie of the Year, a First Team All-Star and a member of the All-Rookie team.  In his first season with the blue and gold, the Toronto native led not only the OUA but all of U SPORTS in scoring, averaging 23.2 points a game.

A Human Kinetics major, Gray becomes the first Voyageurs rookie to be honoured since Manny Pasquale was named the OUA East Rookie of the Year in 2009-10.  Gray came out of the gate flying to start the season and never looked back.  He led the conference in both field goals made (141) and free throws made (130) and finished top-10 in minutes played (637), free throw percentage (80.7%), defensive rebounds (98), assists (69) and steals (37).

Gray’s First Team All-Star nod is the first for a Voyageur since 2011-12 when the aforementioned Pasquale was honoured.  Gray will now go into the running for the U SPORTS Rookie of the Year and a potential all-star selection.  Those announcements will be made on Wednesday, March 8th from the U SPORTS Championships in Halifax.
