MBB | Voyageurs End Pre-Season with 1-2 Weekend at McGill

The Voyageurs men’s basketball team hit the road for more pre-season action as they headed to McGill University to take on the McMaster Marauders, UBC Okanagan Heat and the host Redmen.

In their 87-68 loss to McMaster on Friday night, the Voyageurs distributed the ball well, collecting double-digit scores from three players including a team-high 19 points, five rebounds and three assists from Nelson Yengue. First-year Voyageurs, OJ Watson and Kadre Gray also contributed with 18 and 16 points, respectively while Darcy Watt brought in 10 rebounds.

In Saturday’s tough 74-62 loss to McGill, Gray dominated the scoring with a game-high 24 points and 5 rebounds in 34 minutes on the court. Yengue was equally as strong on the boards bringing in a team-high 11 rebounds in 35 minutes.

In the Voyaguers final contest of the tournament, it was an explosion of offense as Kadre Gray scribbled his name all over the scoring sheet, raking in 37 points, seven rebounds and five assists in 33 minutes.  Watt and Yengue also contributed with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Voyageurs are in action again this weekend as they head to southern Ontario to take on the Guelph Gryphons, Western Mustangs and Brock Badgers.

Laurentian University's Department of Athletics is home to 23 varsity sports teams. The Voyageurs decorated history of pride and tradition includes 62 provincial championships as well as 10 national championships in 54 years of competition.
