Still missing two key players out of their starting lineup tonight with Kadre Gray and JD West injured, the Voyageurs had a tough matchup facing off against the Ryerson Rams for the second time this season. With identical records going into the game, a win would put the Voyageurs on top- unfortunately this was not the result. After a competitive three quarters of gameplay the Voyageurs were outscored in the fourth quarter 26-18, ultimately coming away with a loss with a final score of 76-74.
A key factor in the result of the game was energy in the final quarter, which is how the Voyageurs were outscored by 8 points in these final crucial minutes. Otherwise Laurentian shot respectively and out rebounded their opponent.
Top contributor for the Voyageurs was graduating senior forward Nelson Yengue who was a couple stats short of a triple double as he collected 19 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists in his 40 minutes of gameplay. Another graduating senior, guard David Aromolaran, likewise had a notable performance as he tallied 17 points of his own.
Manny Diressa was the top scorer for the Rams with 20 points.
The Voyageurs will have a short break before they face-off again on Wednesday on home court against the Toronto Varsity Blues in the first round of OUA playoffs.
