Kadre Gray continues to re-write the Laurentian Voyageurs history books as he was named the U SPORTS BLG Award winner on Monday night in Vancouver.  Given to the top female and male student-athletes from universities affiliated with U SPORTS, Gray's honour is the first ever for a Voyageur student-athlete.

His accomplishment is even more impressive given the exceptional class of male nominees he was up against; football player Ed Ilnicki from the University of Alberta, representing Canada West, wrestler Francis Carter from Concordia, representing the RSEQ, and basketball player Javon Masters from UNB, representing the AUS.

"Laurentian Athletics and the entire campus community congratulate Kadre for this huge accomplishment," said Athletic Director Peter Hellstrom. "The dedication and passion of this exceptional student-athlete are an inspiration to us all."

The BLG Awards officially bring Gray's impressive 2017-18 season to a close.  It was a season that saw him lead the country in assists, narrowly miss out on retaining his national scoring title and help his Voyageurs men's basketball team to their best record in over a decade.

He and his teammates will now enjoy a short break before they head to Costa Rica in early August to play a trio of NCAA teams as they ramp up to the 2018-19 season.
