GLF | Voyageurs In The Swing of Things to Begin 2017 Season

The Voyageurs Men's Golf team, and lone female member, headed to eastern Ontario to begin the 2017 season and came home with a number of medals.

The weekend started with the Carleton Invite in Kanata at the Loch March Golf & Country Club, site of this year's OUA Championships in October, and the team fared extremely well, shooting a combined 315, good enough for 2nd place.  Liam Hamlin led the way with a 76, putting him 2nd in the individual standings.  Gracen Lacko, in her first ever OUA event, shot a 105, qualifying her for the OUA Championships.

On Sunday the team headed west to Kingston for the Queen's Invite at Cataraqui Golf & Country Club.  Despite knocking nine strokes off their combined score, firing a 306, the team finished 6th.  Lacko fired a 92 to finish T-10th.

The teams wrapped up their trip with a stop at the UOIT Invite at the Oshawa Golf & Curling Club.  The men's team got back onto the podium, finishing 2nd with a 311.  Dale Valade led the way, earning a silver medal of his own after shooting a 75 to finish T-2nd.  Lacko shot a 94 to finish in 4th on the women's side.

The teams will hit the links again September 30th when they tee off in the Waterloo/Laurier Invitational.
