GLF | Voyageurs Battle to 9th Place Finish

The men's golf team headed to the OUA Championships in Ottawa with their sites set on a podium finish.  Unfortunately, in a very tight field, the team finished in 9th place after 36 holes, 11 shots back of 3rd.

The Championship started off on a great note as Jacob Lacko drained a hole-in-one on the third hole to jump out to an early tournament lead.  Unfortunately, that was one of the few bright spots on a weekend where the golf course showed it's teeth, allowing only two scores in red numbers over the two rounds across the field of 75 players.  The quintet of Lacko, Alex Fowke, Ben Fowke, Vincent Palladino, and Ethan Mulligan played solid, consistent rounds on day one and finished the day in 8th, 15 shots back of the leaders, Wilfrid Laurier, and only six shots back of second place Waterloo.

Heading into day two looking to move up the leaderboard, the team were able to knock two strokes off of their previous day's total but, unfortunately, most of the field were also able to make gains and the squad fell from 8th to 9th.  Lacko led the way individually, finishing T8 with a two day total of 151, four strokes back of a medal position.  A. Fowke (T24, 155), B. Fowke (T33, 157), Palladino (T49, 161), and Mulligan (74, 183) rounded out the scoring.

The Championships officially bring the 2022 season to a close for the golf teams.
