GOLF | Voyageurs Compete for First Banner of the Season in Windsor
With the first banner of the season on the line the Laurentian Voyageurs Golf teams traveled to compete for the OUA Championship tournament at the Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor Ontario. The tournament was held over the course of 2 days and consisted of 15 schools from across the OUA.
On the Women's side of the tournament the Voyageurs had the duo of Vanessa Paterson and Faith Charbonneau in the field. For Charbonneau she displayed two very consistent rounds shooting a 97 on day 1 and a 98 on day two. Paterson also played a formidable weekend as after shooting 103 on day 1 she came out on day two and shot a yearly personal best of 88 on day 2. Charbonneau would end up placing in 48th over the course of the weekend with Paterson just ahead in 46th.
The Men's team brought a full squad of competitors to the South which included Alex Fowke, Vincent Palladino, Ben Fowke and Ethan Mulligan. On day one it was Palladino who stole the show as he shot two under good enough for third best score on the day. The Voyageurs also got strong scores from both Alex and Ben Fowke who shot a 73 and 76 respectively on day 1. Day 2 saw Laurentian struggle a bit more than on day 1 but another strong performance from Alex Fowke who shot even par on the day put him tied for 5th place in the overall individual standings. For the rest of the Voyageurs Palladino would finish tied for 15th, Ben Fowke in 59th and Ethan Mulligan rounded out his final tournament of the year in 63rd place. Laurentian as a team also performed very well as they finished 7th overall as a team in a field of 14 teams ending the season in a very respectable place.
With the season ending this past weekend the Voyageurs came away with many positives over the course of the year and will look to continue to build, improve and prepare for next season.
