MHKY | Voyageurs Find A Way to Win Against RMC in Double OT

On Saturday night, the Voyageurs found a way to win a game against RMC in double overtime after being outworked by the Paladins.

The first period was a scoreless one, however the Vees racked up the shots, outshooting RMC 20 to 7. Many of these shots were perimeter shots and thus RMC goalie Matt Murphy was able to stop everything he faced.
The Voyageurs got on the board early in the second period when a Jacob Smith shot ricocheted off of Darcy Haines skate and into the RMC net at 1:16. Vinny Llorca picked up the secondary assist on Haines' goal.
The Paladins responded at 7:07 of the second when Colton Keuhl burned the Voyageurs powerplay for a shorthanded goal after a great solo effort.
That would be all the scoring for both teams for the remainder of the regulation time on Saturday. The Paladins, who sit near the bottom of the Eastern conference standings, proved their point to the Voyageurs who were clearly outworked and outwilled by the Paladins.
Perhaps taken a little too lightly, the Voyageurs escaped an upset in double overtime during 3 on 3 action. After taking a pass from Haines, Tyler Shaw fed Richard Therrien for a tap in goal for the winner on Saturday.
With the win, the Voyageurs finished the weekend 2-0 and are back in action next weekend when they travel to Western and Guelph.
