MHKY | Voyageurs Shut Out Warriors for First Win of 2017

On Friday night, the Laurentian Voyageurs men's hockey team shut out the visiting Waterloo Warriors 2-0 for their first win in 2017.

Jacob Smith opened the scoring halfway through the first frame when he beat Warrior goalie Mike Morrison on the glove side. Nicolas Dionne and Tyler Shaw assisted on the goal. Smith's goal would be the only goal of the period and Joel Vienneau stopped all nine shots he faced.
The second period saw the pace of the game pick up a little more as both sides started to find their game legs after a lengthy break, except neither team was able to score. Again, Vieanneau stopped all 12 shots he faced in those 20 minutes.
In the third, the Warriors began to pick up the pace in an effort to tie the game. Joel Vienneau shut the door again, this time stopping 16 shots for a grand total of 37 saves in his first shut out of the second half of the season.
Graham Yeo sealed the deal at 19:45 of the third period when he raced after a loose pack and rifled it into the empty Warrior net.
The Voyageurs look to make it two wins in a row as they host the Laurier Golden Hawks tomorrow night at 7:35PM.
