MHKY | Voyageurs Shutout by Gee Gee’s 5-0

On Sunday afternoon, the Laurentian men's hockey team travelled to Ottawa where they were shutout by the Gee Gee's 5-0.

Neither team was able to score in the first period, despite Ottawa outshooting the Vees 15-9.
The Voyageurs found themselves in some penalty trouble in the second period, taking four straight penalties and opening the door for the Gee Gee offence.
Adam Beveridge struck on the powerplay at 7:28 to give Ottawa a 1-0 lead.
Less than a minute later and still on the powerplay, the Gee Gee's struck again at 8:07 to go up 2-0.
The Gee Gee's continued on their tear to start the third period, as Mathieu Dubois beat Joel Vienneau at 5:25 to increase the lead to 3-0.
Ottawa would add another goal halfway through the third and then an empty netter with just over four minutes remaining for a final score of 5-0.
With the loss, the Vees are still holding onto the last playoff spot as they hold a six point advantage over the ninth place Nipissing Lakers. The Voyageurs are back on the ice again next weekend as they travel to Thunder Bay to take on Lakehead.
