MHKY | Couture and Cooper Join Voyageurs

Laurentian Voyageurs men’s hockey head coach, Craig Duncanson, is happy to announce the commitment of a pair of players for the 2017-18 season with forward, Xavier Couture, and local defenceman, Tyler Cooper, pulling on the blue and gold in the fall.

Couture joins the program out of the CCHL where he played this season with the Cumberland Grads after playing the previous three seasons with the Saint-Laurent Patriotes of the QCHL.  The 5’11” forward out of Rouyn-Noranda, QC, finished second on the Grads in scoring this season, potting 36 goals while dishing out 37 assists, good for 73 points in 60 games played.

Copper joins his hometown Voyageurs after finishing his junior career with Hawkesbury of the CCHL.  Prior to joining the Hawks, the 6’5” defenceman played a full season with the Elliott Lake Bobcats of the NOJHL as a 16 year old before spending two seasons with Mississauga of the OJHL and a season and a half in the BCHL.

Coach Duncanson is looking forward to the complete package that both Couture and Cooper will bring to the team.  “We are very happy with the commitment of two quality players in Xavier and Tyler and the character that they will bring to the team, and the university, is what we strive for in our players.  These two are great signings and I look forward to announcing a few more in the near future as we look to continue building this team into a contender.”
