MHKY | Voyageurs Defence Improves, Offence Quiet in Loss to UQTR

On Saturday night, the Voyageurs men's hockey team was shutout by the visiting UQTR Patriotes 2-0 in a tough battle against one of the top teams in the conference.

Neither team was able to get on the board in the first period as both teams battled through an equally matched 20 minutes, The Vees were just barely outshot in the first period 10-9.

UQTR got on the board nearly halfway through the second period and broke the scoreless drought. Pierre-Maxime Poudrier found a way to get one by Joel Vienneau to give the Patriotes a one goal advantage.

The Vees tried to fight back in the third period, outshooting UQTR 15-8. Despite the effort, the Voyageurs were unable to solve Sebastien Auger who stopped all 34 shots he faced on the night.

The Patriotes would add an empty-netter in the dying mintues of the period, earning them a final score of 2-0.

The Voyageurs look to get back in the win column next weekend as they travel to Ottawa to face off against the University of Ottawa and Carleton.
