MHKY | Voyageurs Skid Hits Eight

MHKY | Voyageurs Skid Hits Eight

On Saturday afternoon, the Voyageurs men's hockey team lost their second game in as many nights on the weekend road trip, this time 4-1 to the Brock Badgers.

The Voyageurs, who have scored the first goal of the game on several occasions this season, did so again on Saturday. Brent Pedersen beat Clint Windsor in net for the Badgers at 12:50 of the first period, on a play assisted by Tyler Shaw, giving the Voyageurs the first lead of the game.

Pedersen's goal was the only goal of the period, as Gunner Rivers stopped all 15 shots he faced in the first 20 minutes.

The Voyageurs surrendered the tying goal early in the second period, as Connor Brown scored at 1:05 to even the score.

Brown then capitalized on a Badger powerplay at 8:44, giving Brock their first lead of the game on Brown's second tally of the afternoon.

Sammy Banga added another for the Badgers just five minutes later, now doubling Brock's lead to 3-1. The second period ended with the Badgers up 3-1 on the scoreboard and leading 30-21 in the shot category.

Despite some chippy play in the third, the only goal scored would be in the favour of the Badgers who added a fourth goal off the stick of Nate Looysen who sealed the deal for Brock at 15:02.

With the 4-1 loss, the Voyageurs have now lost eight games in a row. With two games left next weekend before the Christmas exam break, the Voyageurs will look to regroup and head into the break on a winning note.
