SKI | Solid Weekend for Voyageurs at Ontario Cup

The Voyageurs Nordic Ski teams were in North Bay this weekend for Ontario Cup #3.  They were competing against teams from McMaster, Nipissing, Guelph, Georgian College, the University of Toronto and Algoma.

On Saturday, during the 10 km Free Skate Race, Matteo Reich was third in the senior men's division with a blistering time of 29:31.  The fastest women this day were Jayde Hurley (38:32) and Elizabeth Drake (38:37) who just missed the podium with a 4th place and 5th place finish (U20) respectively.

The Saturday results continued to impress with Augustin Marks De Chabris (4th - U20), Mitchel Slobodian (10th - senior men), Sebastien Tremblay (7th - U20), Alastair Watson (8th - U20) and James Norrie (11th - U20).  On the women's side, Hannah Cutler put in a strong performance with a 7th place in the U20 followed by Olivia Wolfram (8th - senior women), Marina Tusz (9th - senior women), first year skier Maryse Leveille (12th - senior women), Faith Goudie (12th - U20) and Logan Bach (14th - U20)

In Sunday's 10 km Classic Pursuit, meaning the starting order and times are dictated by the results of the previous day, the team also did very well with Matteo Reich finishing third overall (both days results combined) but recording the 2nd fastest the day (30:53).  Hannah Cutler, the fastest women's skier of the day, impressed with a 4th place finish in the U20 with a time of 45:06 closely followed by Jayde Hurley (5th), Elizabeth Drake (8th), Logan Bach (11th) and Faith Goudie (12th).  Maryse Leveille, who was racing in her first event, surprised with a 9th place finish in senior women (45:26) closely followed by Olivia Wolfram (10th).

The men on Sunday competed extremely well with Augustin Marks de Chabris finishing 4th overall (both days results combined) and recording the 5th fastest time of the day in the U20.  James Norrie (7th), Sebastien Tremblay (8th) and Alastair Watson (10th) followed him.  Mitchell Slobodian finished 7th on the day (Senior men).
