ROW | Jago & Chase Bring Home Gold at OUA Championships

The men's and women's rowing teams concluded their 2016 OUA championship season this weekend as they hit the water in St. Catharines on Friday.

Through some windy conditions, the Voyageurs had a strong overall showing, highlighted by a championship title in the women's heavyweight doubles race in which veteran Emily Jago and first-year rower Hayley Chase finished the race almost four seconds ahead of their nearest competitor from Queen's.

Jago followed that up with a battle in the women's heavyweight singles, narrowly missing out on her second title of the day, finishing just one second behind the champion from Western.

The championship concludes the 2016 season for the Voyageurs.

Laurentian University's Department of Athletics is home to 23 varsity sports teams. The Voyageurs decorated history of pride and tradition includes 62 provincial championships as well as 10 national championships in 54 years of competition.
