ROW | Alexander Grabs Silver, Chase Bronze at OUA Championships

A pair of Voyageurs returned home from the OUA Championships with some hardware around their necks on Friday as Charles Alexander earned silver and Hayley Chase earned bronze in the men's and women's single, respectively.

Alexander qualified for the finals with the fastest time in the field, winning his heat by clocking a 7:19.78.  In the final, Alexander found himself in a head-to-head battle with Gavin Stone from Queen's as the duo found themselves almost 17 seconds ahead of their next closest competitor.  Unfortunately, Stone was able to pull away from Alexander as they approached the line, finishing five seconds ahead of the Voyageur, who had to settle for silver in a time of 7:31.21.

On the women's side, Chase entered the final with the second fastest time of 8:07.17.  In the final, Chase found herself in a battle for second as Louise Munro from Queen's pulled away from the field.  It was head-to-head between Chase and Trent's Grace VandenBroek, going stoke for stroke down the majority of the course.  The Excalibur rower had just enough in the tank to pull away from Chase at the end and grab the silver, forcing Chase to settle for bronze in a time 8:16.32, still more than 12 seconds ahead of the next closest rower.

Adam Arthurs also dawned the blue and gold for the Voyageurs at the regatta, finishing in ninth in the men's lightweight single.
