MSOC | Back and Forth Affair Leads to 1-1 Tie

The Voyageurs men's soccer team headed to Oshawa on Saturday as they looked to put distance between themselves and UOIT in their pursuit of a home playoff game.  After a back and forth affair that saw plenty of opportunities for both sides, the game would end in a 1-1 draw and only furthered the congestion in the standings.

The Ridgebacks opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Fabio Campoli got a ball past Connor Vande Weghe.  The Voyageurs responded with increased pressure to end the half but they wouldn't break through until the 2nd half.

Just two minutes into the 2nd half, Dean Pizolinas put a ball into the area that found its way to the foot of Liam Ezzard, who rifled his shot into the back of the net.  The remaining 43 minutes could only be described as fast and furious with each team looking for the go ahead goal. Vande Weghe and Nicholas Miller were equal to the task, however, as each of them made seven saves in the second half.

With the tie, there are now four teams separated by one point in the OUA East with five games remaining.  The Voyageurs look to get back into the win column on Sunday when they visit the Trent Excalibur at 2:15pm.
