MSOC | Voyageurs Outscored by Rams, 3-1

The Voyageurs men's soccer team started an important weekend for playoff rankings as they host the Ryerson Rams and Toronto Varsity Blues with just one point separating all three teams in the standings.

The intensity was high from the first whistle as both teams were generating offensive opportunities, but to no avail. The Rams would strike first in the 38th minute when Nick Lambis put his seventh of the season past Voyageurs' goalkeeper Connor Vande Weghe, on a quick pass from teammate Raheem Rose. The Voyageurs found themselves down 1-0 heading into the half.

The second half proved to be more offensive including a flurry of goals in just over ten minutes. The Rams started the offense when Andrew Dias finished a cross from Mohamad Abdallah in the 56th minute. The Voyageurs responded in the 60th minute when Zef Kraja put his third of the season behind Rams goalkeeper, Praveen Ahilan. The Rams' Rose followed that up with a goal of his own in the 69th minute to end the offensive bursts. The goal was the only shot the Voyageurs could manage in the second half as the Rams defense kept them away from Ahilan for the remainder of the game.

The Voyageurs and Rams are now tied for fourth place in the OUA East Division with 19 points each. The Voyageurs welcome the Toronto Varsity Blues to LU Soccer field tomorrow afternoon for what should be another exciting matchup as the Blues sit just one point behind the Voyageurs in the current standings. Game time is set for 2:15pm.
