MSOC | Voyageurs Blank Excalibur

MSOC | Voyageurs Blank Excalibur

The Voyageurs men's soccer team had their best showing of the season so far on Sunday afternoon when they beat the Trent Excalibur by a decisive margin of three goals to nothing.

Scoring started early and often when just ten minutes into the match, Carver Grenon scored on an unassisted goal to give Laurentian a one goal lead. Jacob Gramegna followed soon, by scoring another goal just nine minutes later with an assist from Mateus Forte. Even though, the Voyageurs had just five shots in the match, they also, very impressively, restricted the opposing team to just one throughout the entirety of the match. The Voyageurs continued their impressive play throughout the match and Augustus Oku would add another at the 81:00 minute mark to put the game out of reach for the Trent Excalibur.

Coach Castrechino praised his side's impressive win by saying "Character win today with a depleted lineup. Only 15 dressed and 3-0 win. Grenon, Gramegna, Oku goal scorers. Scanlon with shutout. Big weekend ahead…need to string together some wins."

The Voyageurs now sit just two points out of a playoff spot and as they look to get into a playoff position, they will now welcome their opponent, the UOIT Ridgebacks, on Friday at 1 pm.
