MSOC | Voyageurs Fall to Sixth Ranked Rams

MSOC | Voyageurs Fall to Sixth Ranked Rams

It was a tough outing for the Laurentian Voyageurs on Sunday afternoon as they lost by a score of 3-0 to the sixth ranked team in the country, the Ryerson Rams.

The match started with fireworks when, just two minutes in, Kyle Laborde-Ayres opened the scoring on an assist from Abdallah El-Chanti. However, the Voyageurs managed to lessen their offensive intensity following the goal but they themselves too were unable to find an equalizer. Both teams had goal scoring opportunities but neither were converted. In the 36th minute, the Rams found the back of the net via the cleats of Nathaniel Tambakis with an assist from Laborde-Ayres. Finally, in the dying minutes of the half, Luca Di Marco sealed the victory on an unassisted goal. The first half would then come to an end with the Rams holding a three goal advantage.

The second half did not fare any better for the Vees. They failed to record any shots on goal throughout the match and consequently lost the match 3-0.

"We got an unlucky result, sadly. We have a big weekend coming up. We have to work hard. We've got a lot of guys who are willing to put in the work. We need a really good week of practice and I think we can pull out some surprises this weekend," said Roman Lovrencec about his team's performance and their mindset for next weekend's pair of important matches.

The Voyageurs still sit just three points out of a playoff. They will now look to get back into the win column next Saturday, October 12 against the Trent Excalibur. Kick off is scheduled for 2:15 pm.
