WBB | Voyageurs Fall to Rams

WBB | Voyageurs Fall to Rams

After a slow first quarter, the Voyageurs women's basketball team nearly evened out the scoring in the remaining three quarters with the visiting Ryerson Rams, however, it still wasn't enough to close the gap. Though the second half was competitive, Laurentian ultimately fell to the visiting Rams 78-52.

Based on the size on Ryerson's roster, it was clear from the beginning that defending the paint could be an issue, and it was. The Voyageurs were out-rebounded 54 -28 by their long opponents, with 6'4 forward Sofia Paska dominating in the key with 24 points and 8 rebounds.

A positive in Laurentian's game was their improvement in shooting percentage, specifically from behind the arc. The Voyageurs shot 35% from three point land compared to the Rams 23.5% thanks to Emily Tinnes and Andrea Zulich.

Top contributor for the Voyageurs was veteran forward L'Ashante Henry who had 17 points and 7 rebounds in the match. Seasoned guard Emily Tinnes added 14 points and 5 steals of her own.

The Voyageurs are back on home court tomorrow evening where they'll face off against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues at 6pm.
