WBB | Gee-Gees Gallop Past Voyageurs

Though the Voyageurs came out strong tonight against the visiting University of Ottawa Gee-Gees, winning the first quarter 22-17, they were unable to maintain their lead. After a damaging finish to the first half, Laurentian ultimately fell to their opponent by a final score of 84-71.

Rebounding appeared to be a potential challenge even prior to any gameplay, with the Gee Gees out-sizing the Voyageurs across the roster, especially with a dominant 6'5 forward Angela Ribarich who grabbed 10 boards and scored 19 points, most of which were in the paint. With assistance from Ribarich, Ottawa out rebounded Laurentian 55-32- a key factor in the home team's demise.

Top performer for the Voyageurs was second year guard Kayla Deschatelets who had 21 points off the bench shooting 75% from the field. Another notable contribution came from veteran guard Emily Tinnes who earned 13 points and 7 assists in the match.

Laurentian will look to bounce back as they match off against the visiting Carleton Ravens for the second time this season, this time on home court in the Ben Avery Gymnasium. Tipoff is 6pm tomorrow
