For their first match of 2019 the Voyageurs squared up against the 7-3 Queen's University Gaels on home court. Looking to start the new year off right, Laurentian initially leaped out of the gate with energy, trading baskets with the visiting team. However, this even ground didn't last long. With multiple runs the Gaels were able to secure a lead, ultimately coming away with the victory 63-46 over Laurentian.
Laurentian was led by second year forward Bailey Tabin who had 12 points in her 21 minutes of gameplay. Fifth year guard Emily Tinnes added 11 points and 7 rebounds.
Top contributor for the Gaels was Veronika Lavergne with 13 points.
The Voyageurs will look to shake off the loss and refocus for tomorrow's match, where they'll face off against the York Lions on home court at 6 pm.
