WBB | Voyageurs Lose Battle in the Paint to Rams

Laurentian took the court tonight to square off against the Ryerson Rams as they celebrated five graduating seniors: Emily Tinnes, Andrea Zulich, Mackenzie Robinson, Emily Fisher, and Lara Pomerleau-Fontaine. Despite the tough matchup of the 17-4 Rams, the Voyageurs hoped to play their last regular season game in the Ben Avery gym this season the best they could.

Unfortunately for Laurentian, Ryerson's presence in the key was just too much to handle. The Rams managed to out-rebound the Voyageurs 36-21. More specifically, the Rams out-rebound the Voyageurs on the offensive boards 15-4, rebounds that led to many second and third chance opportunities. The main contributor to this presence in the key was Ram center Sofia Paska, who racked up 27 points and eight rebounds (six of them offensive). Paska led the charge of the Rams, as they ultimately defeated the Voyageurs 83-68.

The Voyageurs were led by their graduating seniors. Fifth-year guard Emily Tinnes tallied 19 points, while fourth-year guards Mackenzie Robinson, Emily Fisher and Andrea Zulich added 13, 10 and 8 points respectively.

Laurentian will have a week to rest up and prepare for their final regular season matches, as they head east to play Carleton and the University of Ottawa next weekend.
