WBB | 10th Ranked Badgers Too Much for the Voyageurs

The Voyageurs got blown out by the tenth best team in the nation on Saturday night as the Brock Badgers came out victorious by a score of 86-64.

The 7-1 Badgers dominated most of the match. The Voyageurs fell behind 12-5 early in the first quarter but the Voyageurs made a valiant comeback and cut the lead to two points with 4:10 left in the quarter but unfortunately for the Voyageurs, the Badgers quickly snuffed out this comeback attempt and finished the quarter with an eight point lead on 50.0% shooting. The Badgers were led by Samantha Keltos with 10 points and Melissa Tatti with five points whereas the Voyageurs were led by Bailey Tabin with seven points and Kayla Deschatelets with four points. The Voyageurs shot 27.3% from the field. The second quarter was much more of the same as the first with the Badgers shooting, once again, 50.0% from the field but adding 25 points this time around. Meanwhile, the Voyageurs had a much better shooting quarter with 46.7% but were outscored by six points. At the conclusion of the first half, the Voyageurs trailed 47-33.

The Voyageurs played better in the third quarter. They were only outscored by three points with the credit going to Bailey Tabin with seven points, Kayla Deschatelets with six points and Arielle Douillette with five points. But to their dismay, the Voyageurs could not close the gap between themselves and the Badgers as the Badger lead stretched to 17 points. Finally, the fourth quarter was simply a continuation of the same trend seen in the previous three quarters and ultimately, the Voyageurs finished the match with an 86-64 loss. Leading scorers for the Badgers included Jessica Morris with 25 points, Samantha Keltos with 22 points and Melissa Tatti with 18 points whereas the leading scorers for the Voyageurs included Bailey Tabin with 26 points and Kayla Deschatelets with 16 points.

The Voyageurs are on the road next when they travel to the nation's capital when they take on the third best team in the country, the Carleton Ravens. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 pm at Raven's Nest.
