WCURL | Burns & Company Defeat Regina 8-2 in Game 1
The Voyageurs Women's Curling team got things started on the right foot in Thunder Bay at the U SPORTS Curling Championships. The team gained control of the game in the early ends and never looked back, winning 8-2 over the Regina Cougars.
The Voyageurs started the game in textbook fashion, opening the game with a deuce with hammer, then forcing Regina to a single before coming back with another two points in the 3rd. It was at that point that the Laurentian women began taking over, stealing singles in ends 4, 5, 6 and 7. Regina grabbed a single in the 8th before shaking hands and giving the Voyageurs their first win of the Championship.
The Voyageurs (1-0) will face-off against Dalhousie (0-1) at 2pm and the University of New Brunswick (0-1) at 7pm on day 2 in Thunder Bay.
