WHKY | Voyageurs Fall Just Short of Lakers 3-2

On Saturday night, the Voyageurs women's hockey team came up just short of the second place Nipissing Lakers, losing by a score of 3-2. 

The Lakers got off to an early start as Bronwyn Bolduc found the back of the net just 1:03 into the game.
Bolduc's goal would be the only goal of the period, despite the Voyageurs outshooting Nipissing 17-7.
Bolduc struck again early in the second when she was able to beat Karen Collins in net at 2:48 of the period.
The Vees wold eventually respond off the stick of Kennedy Lanktree who scored at 7:27 of the second period. Morgan McCann and Sara Habal assisted on the play.
The Vees would again surrender an early period goal in the third frame. At 3:10 of the period, Jade Gauthier found some space above the right shoulder of Collins and gave the Lakers a 3-1 lead.
MacAuley carr started the comeback effort at 16:09 of the third when she scored on a solo shorthanded effort, to make the game 3-2.
Carr's goal would be as close as the Vees got however, as they were unable to produce a tying goal. WIth the loss, the Vees now occupy sixth place in the standings, however have played less games than every team ahead of them. 
The Voyageurs are back in action on Sunday afternoon at UOIT as they play their last game of 2016.
