WHKY | Voyageurs Shutout Laurier 3-0

On Saturday afternoon, the Voyageurs women's hockey team got themselves back in the win column after shutting out the visiting Laurier Golden Hawks 3-0, moving them into a tie for sixth place.

The Vees got on the board early, when Mariah Beckett redirected Marie-Pierre Pelissou's shot in for her second career OUA goal. Captain Ellery Veerman picked up the secondary assist on the go ahead goal.
Just under three minutes later, the Voyageurs doubled their lead to 2-0 when Taylor Weber blasted a puck home that was set up on a tee for her by Sara Habal. Morgan McCann also assisted on the play, giving her 14 points on the season which is leading the Vees thus far. Two would be all the Vees would get in the first period, despite outshooting the Golden Hawks 17-8.
Neither team was able to score in the second period, and Karen Collins remained unbeaten through 40 minutes as she had accumulated 16 saves.`
The Vees added an insurance marker midway through the third period when Ellery Veerman pounced on a rebound for a powerplay marker which gave the Vees a 3-0 lead.
Karen Collins was excellent yet again in net for the Voyageurs, earning a 25 shutout and surrendering only two goals throughout the weekend. The Voyageurs are back in action next weekend as they travel to Ryerson and U of T.
