WHKY | Voyageurs Drop Tight Battle With Rams

On Saturday night, the Voyageurs women's hockey team lost a close contest 2-1 to the Ryerson Rams.

Despite a scoreless first period, the Rams took the play to the Vees outshooting Laurentian 14-5. Karen Collins stopped all the shots she faced in the first period. 
 
The tight battle ensued in the second peroid as it took the Rams almost the entire period to solve Collins. Lauren Nicholson broke the scorelress tie at 19:39, sending the Rams into the second intermission with a 1-0 lead.
 
The Voyageurs were quick to tie things up in the third period as Sam Morell added to her team lead in points with a goal at 5:01. Elizza Bertuzzi and Annie Sheridan assisted on the goal.
 
The Rams would regain their victory, however, as Kyrshanda Green put Ryerson back up 2-1 four minutes later. 
 
Despite a desperate effort in the remaining time, the Voyageurs were unable to beat Fanny Vigeant for a second time and tie things up.
 
With the loss, the Voyageurs now sit one point out of the final playoff spot with four games remaining in the regular season.
