WHKY | Voyageurs Shut Out by Warriors, Eliminated From Post-Season
On Saturday night the Voyageurs women's hockey team dropped a must-win game as the Vees fell 2-0 in a loss to the Waterloo Warriors.

The contest started off with pure intensity and heart as it was clear to the Vees that they had a specific goal, to pull out a win.

The game started with a hard Waterloo offensive push as they were able to put 14 shots onto Shanna Dolighan. Most of these shots coming from Waterloo cycling the zone then sending them from the point. Waterloo was able to capitalize on one of these shots at 18:08 scored by Jenna Hewitt-Kenda assisted by Cynthia Cavanaugh and Selena Dirven.

Coming out of the first intermission it was clear that the Vees needed to capitalize on one of their many opportunities. After an equal battle of puck possession the Vees found a successful penalty kill series as well as a total of 6 shots in the period.

Going into the second intermission the score was still 1-0 Waterloo.

Just as the Vees has been doing they came out fierce and aggressive winning puck battles and placing 10 shots onto Waterloo's netminder. Laurentian's last and final push resulted in a Waterloo empty net goal putting them up 2-0 for a ending score.

The Voyageurs women's hockey team will play their final game Sunday February 18th against the Laurier Golden Hawks.
