WHKY | Badgers Steal Points from Voyageurs

WHKY | Badgers Steal Points from Voyageurs

The Laurentian women's hockey team traveled down south to St. Catharines for some Friday night action against the Brock Badgers.

The Vees have a full weekend but today was the focus point as they were hoping for another win to add onto the record.

The game started out slow as it took a period for both offensive attacks to warm up and get into gear.

Laurentian's attack would add not one, but two goals in the second period. The first of which came from Karissa Hoskin, a Vees rookie who would pot her first OUA goal and the first goal of the game. Assists credited to Payton Bray and Brooklyn Davis.

The second goal scored by the Vees came with just one second left in the second period as Julia Giannitsopoulos, a Voyageurs defender, put her team up with a last ditch effort. She would be helped by Brooklyn Davis and Myla McCormick

Although Brock was down, they were not out as they added two goals to tie up the game in regulation, the second coming with just 1:25 reminaing in the game, and send it to a un-conclusive overtime period but a conclusive shootout.

Brock scored twelve minutes in and was accredited to Annie Berg who would need no help to cut the Vees lead in half. As the game came into the dying minutes Brock was able to solve the Voyageurs' Shanna Dolighan. Cassidy Maplethorpe would be credited with the goal that would tie the score.

Sending this women's hockey game to over time but that would result unsuccessful and consequently sending the game to a shootout that would give the Badgers the third period comeback win.

The Vees look to improve their weekend with a win and a loss as they play Guelph tomorrowNovember 10th, at 2pm.
