WHKY | Gaels Edge Voyageurs

The Laurentian Voyageurs Women's hockey team kicked off their Saturday November 17th and Sunday November 18th game series against the Queen's Gaels.

The Gaels were a force to be reckoned with in the 2017-2018 season but this did not let the Vees change their mindset coming into this game.

A game the Voyageurs desperately wanted to win, as they are currently sporting a losing streak, and must grab points to stay in touch with teams at the top of the conference.

The Voyageurs Shanna Dolighan would put up thirty-five saves but that would not be enough as the Gaels were able to score on two separate opportunities in the second and third period that would give them the goal advantage over the Vees.

Kaylie Dennis would be the first to beat Shanna Dolighan in the first period just six minutes in. The assistance would come from the decorated and respected Gaels offensive powerhouse Addi Halladay.

After the Gaels opened the scoring, the Vees were down but most certainly not out as they created many opportunities but the Gaels' Stephanie Pascal was able to turn away thirty Voyageurs shots.

The second period resulted in another Gaels goal potted by the Captain, Halladay, for her fourth goal in eleven games.

The Voyageurs came into the third period down by two goals and were well aware of the changes that needed to happen if they wanted to come out on top after this game.

Madison Heeny was the Voyageur to score the only goal for the Voyageurs and she would do it unassisted halfway through the third period and as well on a Vees power play.

Unfortunately the Voyageurs one goal would not trump the Gaels two and consequently the Vees would loose 2-1 against the Gaels. The Voyageurs will play the UOIT Ridgebacks tomorrow in hopes to add another win and break the three game losing streak.
