WHKY | Voyageurs Blanked by Mustangs

WHKY | Voyageurs Blanked by Mustangs

The Laurentian Voyageurs hockey team traveled down south to visit the Western Mustangs this January 12th.

The Voyageurs were on an eight game loss streak previous to this Mustang game and therefore were presented with another opportunity to end this streak.

The Western Womens Hockey team lost in the gold medal game against the Manitoba Bisons in the U SPORTS Championship last season. The Mustangs consequently ended their season 30-9-2.

In a game riddled with opportunities the Voyageurs were handed the short end of the stick and were unable to capitalize on any opportunity leaving them scoreless in the game.

Carmen Lasis would be the Western Goaltender that would stump the Laurentian offence holding back all twenty-two shots by the Vees.

Western's April Clark would achieve a hatrick scoring the first three Mustang goals in the first and second period. Her teammate Rachel Armstrong would also be awarded with multiple goals as she scored in the second and third periods.

The Mustangs would hand the Vees another loss and extend the loss streak to nine with a 6-0 win.

The Voyageurs will play the second game of the weekend January 13th against the Windsor Lancers who are currently in last place in the OUA.
