ROW | Chase, Schweinbenz Named to Team Ontario for Summer Games

A pair of Voyageurs will be representing Laurentian in rowing at the Canada Summer Games at the end of the month.  Hosted by Winnipeg, MB, the Voyageurs will actually be heading to Rabbit Lake in Kenora, ON, which will serve as the site for the rowing competition.

Hayley Chase, a Sport & Physical Education student who will be heading into her second year of eligibility in the fall, will be a member of Team Ontario’s sculling group.  The defending OUA Champion in the heavyweight doubles will have the boat she is racing in (single, double, lightweight double or quad) announced closer to the regatta.

Laurentian head coach, Dr. Amanda Schweinbenz, has been named as the head coach of the women’s team and will oversee a contingent of 15 young women over the course of the five day regatta.  In addition to the sculling boats, Ontario has entries in the women’s pair, four and eight with coxswain.

The paddles dip into the water on July 31st and the competition wraps up on August 4th.
