WSOC | A Tale of Two Halves: Voyageurs Fall 3-1 to the Ravens

In a battle for third place the Laurentian Voyageurs women's soccer team let their lead slip away in the second half, falling to the Carleton Ravens, 3-1.

The first half was largely an equal affair with both squads getting quality chances at the game's first goal. The real story of the first 45 minutes was the play from both keepers, each preventing the opposing team from capitalizing on their chances.

It was Laurentian who struck first with a late goal by Sarah Sanford off a close rebound, to take a one goal lead into the half.

Not satisfied with their one goal lead, Laurentian played aggressively to start the second half, but to no avail. The strategy ultimately turned on the Vee's as they seemed to lose their stride in the later goings of the half, leading to the Ravens' equalizer.

Carleton, now revitalized by their game-tying goal added another, after a slew of attempts to capture the lead. They later padded their lead with a third goal on a late game penalty to seal their victory and solidify their spot in the top three of the OUA's table.

The loss dropped LU to an even .500 on the season at 4-4.

The Voyageurs will look to halt their two game losing streak on Sunday, with an away match against the undefeated Ottawa Gee-Gees (7-0).
