WSOC | Voyageurs Fall to Gaels, Prepare for Playoffs

The Laurentian Voyageurs Women’s Soccer team could not seem to break through the Queen’s solid defence on Sunday, as they fell 2-0 to the Gaels.

The first half of the match saw no scoring from either side as the teams battled it out. The Gaels were able to break through the Vees’ defence to make three shots on goal but were unsuccessful. The Voyageurs were unable to make any shots as Queen’s applied fierce pressure on their offensive attempts, but managed to keep the Gaels at bay.

The second half saw another hard-fought battle on both sides, but Queen’s came out on top as they scored twice within 5 minutes close to the end of the half. Gaels’ Tara Bartram and Jenny Wolever were both unassisted as they put Queens up 2-0. The Vees were able to get one shot on goal in the second half, but to no avail.

The Voyageurs now prepare to host the Carleton Ravens in the first round of the OUA Playoffs.  Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30pm on Wednesday afternoon at the LU Soccer Field.
