WSOC | Voyageurs Run Past Paladins

The Laurentian women’s soccer team played their third game of the season on Saturday afternoon against RMC, coming away with victory to improve to 2-1 on the season.
It didn’t take the Voyageurs long to get on the scoreboard, as just nine minutes into the first half Megan Chiovitti scored her first career OUA goal off a pass from Megan Gallo.
That would be it for scoring in the first half despite the Voyageurs outshooting RMC 4-1.
The Voyageurs wasted little time in the second half, as just four minutes into the half Sam Selkirk scored with an assist going to Michelle Walsh.
The Vees were quick to add to the 2-0 lead, as five minutes later in the 54th minute Megan Gallo netted her first career OUA goal to put the Vees up 3-0.
RMC would climb back within one in the 59th minute, but it was too little too late. The Vees closed the door for good on RMC when Sara Fitzgerald scored in the 70th minute off a pass from Megan Ferguson.
Caitlin McNamara earned the victory in net needing to make only two saves in the match. Voyageurs coach Rob Gallo said that “the girls played a good team game but tomorrow will be a good test for us” as the Vees travel to Queen's for a 12pm kick-off.
You can catch the Voyageurs at home again on Sunday, September 11th at 12PM at the Laurentian soccer fields.
