WSOC | Voyageurs Snap Ridgebacks' Streak

On Sunday, the Voyageurs women’s soccer team travelled to Oshawa to take on the UOIT Ridgebacks.

The Vee’s had a great start in the first half, when 25 minutes in Sarah Sanford took advantage of a corner kick by Megan Ferguson and scored the first goal of the match. The rest of the half was hard fought with both the Ridgebacks and the Voyageurs making lots of attempts to score.

Entering the second half, the Voyageurs hoped to hold their lead and distance themselves from the teams chasing them for a playoff spot. The women kicked off with lots of action, both sides fighting hard to keep possession. Despite continuous attempts by both teams, neither scored and the Voyageurs pulled off a 1-0 win against UOIT. The win ended the Ridgebacks’ 10 game winning streak and started one of their own as the Voyageurs have now won 3 straight.
