WSOC | Voyageurs Suffer First Loss

The Laurentian Voyageurs women's soccer team headed to Toronto for a date with the Varsity Blues on Sunday afternoon to wrap up their opening weekend.  The Varsity Blues got started early and ran away with the game, 3-0.

The Varsity Blues controlled play from the opening whistle and converted just 6 minutes into the game.  The Varsity Blues maintained their pressure and found the back of the net a mere 6 minutes later to push their lead to 2-0 just 12 minutes into the game.

After being outshot 9-2 in the 1st half, the Voyageurs looked to come out with a little more urgency in the 2nd half but it was the Varsity Blues who got the upper hand, pushing their lead to 3-0 just 3 minutes into the half. That was all the offence the Blues needed as they settled back and saw their three goal lead through to the final whistle.

The Voyageurs move to 1-1 on the season and head to Kingston this coming weekend as they face RMC on Saturday and Queen's on Sunday, both games with a 12pm kickoff.

Laurentian University's Department of Athletics is home to 23 varsity sports teams. The Voyageurs decorated history of pride and tradition includes 62 provincial championships as well as 10 national championships in 54 years of competition.
