WSOC | Voyageurs Hold #2 Ridgebacks Scoreless in 0-0 Draw

The Voyageurs women's soccer team took on the OUA East leading, and 2nd ranked team in the country, UOIT Ridgebacks on Saturday afternoon.  Despite quality chances on both ends, the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

In what has been becoming a bit of a trend, the Voyageurs opened the game with extreme patience, allowing the Ridgebacks to control the majority of play, waiting for their chance on the counter-attack.  With one of the leagues top keepers in Caitlin McNamara and a stingy back line, it is a tactic that has led to success all season and McNamara was equal to the task today, making eight saves in the first half.

Brianne Rodrigue had a pair of quality chances in the second half turned away as the Voyageurs looked for a go ahead marker.  McNamara would add another save in the second half to give her nine on the day.  The shutout was McNamara's sixth of the season and she is now top-5 in the province in all four major goalie statistics (GA-4th, GAA-4th, Saves-3rd and SV%-2nd).

The Voyageurs will look to push their undefeated streak to nine tomorrow when they head to Peterborough to face the Trent Excalibur.  Kick-off is scheduled for 12pm.
