WSOC | Voyageurs Shutout by Rams

The Voyageurs women's soccer team started an important weekend for playoff rankings as they host the Ryerson Rams and Toronto Varsity Blues with just two points separating all three teams in the standings.

The competition lived up to the hype in the first contest of the weekend as both the Ryerson Rams and Voyageurs generated many offensive chances on both ends, keeping the crowd loud. The Rams struck first when Victoria Watson sent a ball into the top right corner of the net past Voyageurs' goalkeeper Caitlin McNamara to put her team up 1-0.

The Voyageurs would turn up their offense for the remainder of the first half, which included hitting a couple of goal posts, but the teams headed into the break with the Rams lead secure at 1-0.

The second half was much of the same story, with offensive opportunities being created by several Voyageurs, but Rams goalkeeper Elisa Lapadula staying solid between the posts and securing her first shutout of the season.

The Rams increased their lead in the 70th minute when Watson put her second of the game and OUA-leading ninth past McNamara.

The Voyageurs are back in action tomorrow afternoon as they welcome the University of Toronto Varsity Blues to LU Soccer Field at 12pm.
