WSOC | Trio Of Voyageurs Named OUA All-Stars

The OUA named the women’s soccer all-stars Thursday and three Voyageurs were recognized in the annual awards.  The Voyageurs were honoured with a pair of first-time, 1st Team All-Stars, in Caitlin McNamara and Allison Pilon, and a 2nd Team All-Star in Catherine Rocca.

Goaltender McNamara was recognized as an all-star for the first time in her four year career after grabbing the starter spot this season and asserting herself as one of the top keepers in the country.  In 14 games, McNamara amassed a 7-3-4 record, finishing 3rd in the OUA in saves with 87, 2nd in the OUA with a .897 save percentage and 3rd in the OUA with 8 shutouts to go along with a miniscule 0.74 goals against average.

After being named a second-team all-star in her rookie season, Pilon is an OUA first-team all-star for the first time her career, three seasons later, after she started in all 16 games.  The Voyageurs captain anchored a stingy defence that only allowed 0.94 goals against per game, tied for 6th best in the OUA, while adding a goal and an assist to her credit.

In her third year, Rocca started in all 16 games for Laurentian, scoring a pair of goals this season.

The awards and recognition wrap up a successful season for the team who bowed out of the playoffs in the OUA East Semi-Finals after finishing 4th in the regular season for the second consecutive year.
