MHKY | Voyageurs Defeated by #3 Ravens

MHKY | Voyageurs Defeated by #3 Ravens

The Laurentian Voyageurs men's hockey team travelled down to the nation's capital this weekend to play their last set of games of the regular season against the Carleton Ravens and Ottawa Gee-Gees.

The Vees would be out of playoff contention leading up to this weekend meaning that these games held no real value for the Voyageurs. The first of the two games would be played against the Carleton Ravens who had clinched the conference title at this point in the season.

The Voyageurs would be the first on the scoreboard with Ben Morris scoring his sixth goal on the season and opening the scoring on Mark Grametbauer. Russel Nowry and Danny Lepage would get the assists on Morris's goal. The Ravens would answer back with just one second left in the first frame with a goal from Aucoin on the powerplay beating Nick Donofrio making for a 1-1 game heading into the second period.

After the Ravens took a 2-1 lead, Luke McCaw scored his third goal of the season off a wicked one-timer being sent across to him by Tyler Cooper and beyond Grametbauer for yet again the equalizer at 2-2.

The Ravens offensive juices would be flowing as they would add a total of four more goal between the second and third period. The Voyageurs would answer one last time after Russel Nowry beat Grametbauer with a nice move down low and putting the puck far side for the third and last goal for the Vees and Nowry's ninth goal on the season. Danny Lepage and Ben Morris would get the assists.

The Voyageurs would drop their second last game of the season 6-3 and will play the last game of the 2019-2020 season tomorrow against the Ottawa Gee-Gees.
