The Voyageurs swim teams were in Scarborough competing at the OUA Swimming Championships over the weekend and came home with a pair of silver medals, a trio of bronze medals, a major award winner and a combined 6th place finish.

The Championships got off to a fantastic start when the women's 200m freestyle relay team, comprised of Erika Savage, Francesca Zammit-Maempel, Ryllie Tryon and Natalie Lefebvre touched the wall in third place in a time of 1:47.29.  Building off of their female counterparts' momentum, the men's 200m freestyle relay team, comprised of Christopher Eastick, Ryan Sims, Gabriel Fenn and Samuel Boily-Dufour touched the wall in second place in a time of 1:33.77.  On the individual side, the team qualified for eight B final swims and three A final swims. Abigail McDonald cashed in in the 100m butterfly, touching the wall in 1:02 flat to grab the bronze medal.

Day two of the Championships saw Voyageurs qualify for nine B final swims and six A final swims.  Boily-Dufour led the charge for the Voyageurs, touching the wall in third place in a time of 23.06 in the 50m freestyle for his medal of the meet, just .06 seconds back from second.

Day three saw the Voyageurs qualify for nine B final swims and two A final swims.  Boily-Dufour once again led the way with his 3rd medal of the Championship, this time a silver in the 100m freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 50.23 seconds.

At the end of the Championship, long time Voyageurs coach, Phil Parker, was named the OUA Women's Coach of the Year, which marks the first time he has received such an honour.

Members of both teams who have qualified for nationals will be back in the pool prepping for Victoria, BC for the U SPORTS Championships in two weeks' time while the OUA Championships marks the end of the season for the rest of the swim team.
