WHKY | Voyageurs Shut Out Lancers

WHKY | Voyageurs Shut Out Lancers

The Laurentian women's hockey team played against the Windsor Lancers this Saturday afternoon.

The Lancers came to Sudbury still searching for a win this 2019-20 season after dropping all five games.

The Vees' were adamant and would fight for their second win of the season as Megan Arnott would score from the slot after receiving a pass from Natalie Lamarche and Chelsea Dinnin. Arnott would score just two minutes into the first on Jaydlin Spooner for her fifth goal in thirty games as a Vee.

The second goal would come from the fifth year Voyageur Morgan McCann after getting the puck up close and personal on Spooner and beating her up top. McCann would get her twenty-second goal in five years and Abbey Caldwell and Tessa Marcon would get the assist.

The Lancers would be scoreless on two frames as Shanna Dolighan would remain solid on all thirty-five shots.

Nearing the end of the third frame the Lancers would pull their goalie for an extra attacker but the Vees' would capitalize again as Madison Heeney would score her second goal of the season on an empty net opportunity give the Vees' a 3-0 win.

The Voyageurs take the game and get their second win of the season but prepare for a weekend at Brock and Guelph November 8th and 9th.
