After a season full of upsets, development, and team building, the Laurentian Voyageurs pulled ahead for their first home win against the Trent Excalibur in their last game of 2025 play.
From the opening whistle, Laurentian set the tone. In just the 10th minute, Natalia Begic opened the scoring with a calm finish to take the lead. Fuel was added to the fire when Amélie Pires doubled the advantage in the 31st minute, converting on a penalty shot to bring the Vees to a much-deserved halftime rest.
Trent briefly threatened a comeback with a penalty goal of their own, but Laurentian responded with composure. Pires struck again in the 79th minute, scoring her second of the match to restore a safe lead and secure the result.
In goal, Noémie Bouchard played as strongly as she had all season, with the back line providing stability throughout the afternoon. The midfield pairing of Gracie Sowers and Adriana Primerano complemented the attack well, controlling possession and dictating the pace, which allowed the Voyageurs to play with confidence from start to finish.
The win served as a fitting conclusion to a season defined by growth, resilience, and belief. Despite a tumultuous few months, the Voyageurs never gave up, continued to improve, and found their rhythm. Sunday's victory wasn't just about three goals and solid defence. It was about setting the tone for what's to come for the program, ending the year with pride and momentum for the future.
