SWIM | Voyageurs Women Show Well at Nationals

A quintet of Voyageurs represented the men's and women's swim teams at the U SPORTS Championships in Victoria, BC, over the weekend and came away with some extremely impressive results for the young squad.

On the women's side, Abby Howell, Abby McDonald, Carling Stever and Logan Tucker carried the torch for the Voyageurs.  McDonald paved the way for the squad, qualifying for the C finals in the 50m and 100m butterfly and the B final for the 200m butterfly, finishing in 18th, 17th and 15th, respectively, accounting for 28 team points for the Voyageurs.

Howell added to the point total by qualifying for the C finals in the 50m and 200m breaststroke, finishing in 24th and 22nd, respectively.  Stever also got in on the finals fun, finishing 24th in the 400m IM.  The team also competed in a pair of relays, finishing 15th in the 4x100m freestyle before getting disqualified for an early takeover in the 4x100m medley relay.  As a team, the women finished the Championships in 22nd place with 45 points.

Samuel Boily-Dufour, who looked to make some noise in the freestyle sprints, represented the men's team.  Unfortunately, he was struck with an illness and was only able to compete in a single race, failing to make the finals.

The end of the Championships officially brings the swimmers' 2019-20 season to a close.
